MIKE TO WRITE COLUMN FOR NEW UFO MAGAZINE

Mike Hallowell has been asked to write a regular column
for a new UFO magazine which is due to hit the news-
stands in July.
The magazine - UFO Matrix - will be edited by veteran UFO
researcher Philip Mantle. The assistant editor is Malcolm
Robinson, also one of the most knowledgeable experts in
the field.
UFO Matrix has pulled together an international team of
columnists, all of whom have an established pedigree in
the field of UFO research. They include Nick Pope (UK),
Steve Johnson (UK), Peter Robbins (USA), Clas Svahn
(Sweden), Scott Corrales (South America), Lee Paqui
(Australia) and Sheryl Gottschall (Australia).
Nick Pope, an Executive Officer with the Ministry of Defence, was the MoD’s dedicated “UFO person” between
1991 and 1994. Peter Robbins is the co-author of the book Left at East Gate, written with Larry Warren,
which provided a detailed account of the notorious Rendlesham Forest affair.
Mike’s column, entitled BACKLIGHT: Mike Hallowell’s UFO
Cold Case Files, will focus on UFO “cold cases” from the past
that remain unsolved.
“My hope is that by re-examining these cases and looking
at them with a fresh pair of eyes it might be possible to
eliminate some of the mystery surrounding them and finally
put to bed some unanswered questions”, says Mike.
Mike’s relationship with Philip Mantle goes back some way.
“I remember when Philip was editing QUEST magazine”, adds
Mike, “and I was attempting to make the transition from
local to national publications as a freelance. Philip gave me
my first break, which I’ve always appreciated. We’ve worked
together on a number of projects since, and shared a few
conference platforms. He’s one of the good guys in our
field; honest and reliable”.
Mike says that not all the cases in his column will be famous ones which hit the headlines. He firmly believes
that some of the best unsolved cases are those that received little or no publicity. To be honest, the
difference between cases that make international headlines and those that simply sunk without trace is just
a matter of luck and timing. I know of many sightings which never made the news simply because a rookie
reporter somewhere thought the story didn’t add up to much. In different hands it could have been prime-time TV”.
