A review of some of Mike Hallowell’s media

In 2002, Mike and his colleague Anna  Kaye were the subject
of a documentary called Twilight Worlds made by the
Teesside University Media Unit.
   
The film highlighted their appearance on Century Radio and
their involvement With the Twilight Worlds Paranormal
Research Society which Mike  founded in the year 2000.
2002: The Ghost Detectives
In 2002, Mike took part in the documentary series The Ghost
Detectives,  presented by Tom Baker and featuring celebrity
medium, Marion “Maz” Goodfellow.

The series was shown on the UK Horizons channel and well
received. Mike was mainly involved in the episode dealing with the
haunting of the Marsden Grotto,  and acted as a consultant to the
producers due to his expertise on Grotto history.

In 2003 Mike, some colleagues and a team from the Centre for
Fortean Zoology investigated a series of sightings of a
mysterious creature dubbed The Beast of Bolam Lake.

TV, radio, books, newspaper articles and a movie were the
result...

2004: The Mike Elliott Show
In 2004, Mike and his colleague Anna Kaye
were asked to guest on the Mike Elliott Show.
Mike and Anna appeared on the show
regularly on a Friday evening to talk about
all forms of psychic phenomena during live
phone-in debates with viewers.

“Spooky Friday”, as it became known,
continued until Mike’s relationship with Magic
FM ended and he moved on to another
radio station.

2006: Uninvited Guests

the editor of VISION Magazine
In January 2006, the horror writer G P Taylor ‘s
series UNINVITED GUESTS was in the final
stages of production. Mike and the rest of the
staff from VISION magazine were the subject
of one episode.
2006: On Sacred Ground
In December 2006, Northeastern Films
began shooting On Sacred Ground,
a biographical film about Mike and his
life and his Native American heritage.

The film was directed by
acclaimed filmmaker Gary Wilkinson.
2007: The Jonathan Miles Show
December  2007 saw Mike & Darren in
the studio with BBC presenter  Jonathan
Miles to talk about their forthcoming
book The South Shields Poltergeist.
Don’t sleep without the light on...
2008: Ghostly Tales
The Shields Gazette releases a series of
mini-docs on its website called Ghostly
Tales, in which Mike relates
several of South Tyneside’s eeriest ghost
stories. The series received thousands of
hits and was extremely popular.
2008: Christmas Spirits

its website called Christmas Spirits in which Mike
relates several of South Tyneside’s eeriest ghost
stories. The series received thousands of hits and
was extremely popular.
2009: The House That Jack Built
In December 2009, filmmaker Dot Brammah
visited the north east to make a film about
Mike’s book The House That Jack Built.  
The book  - and Dot’s film - centred around
the bizarre history of the Marsden Grotto Inn,
the UK’s quintessential haunted pub.
2010: A Brush With Britain
Mike and Charles Evans during a break in

Filmmaker Dot Brammah
In 2010 Orion TV was commissioned by The
Discovery Channel  to make a series of films
called A Brush With Britain, featuring
celebrated watercolour artist Charles Evans.
Mike spent a day filming the episode
dealing with the smuggling activities at
Marsden Bay, talking about some of the
nefarious characters who once frequented
the area.
